DEAD DANCE ZONE at Mbassy
End of October - Beginning of November 2020
Mbassy, Schlüterstrasse 80, D-20146 Hamburg

Dead Dance Zone is both an installation project and an interactive tour. Yolanda Gutierrez takes visitors on a journey through European and Mexican traditions, in which death is both feared and celebrated. For the 3rd edition of this performative exhibition in Mbassy, she complements this experience with an artistic contribution from Togo. When people die and are buried in Togo, it is always lively and spiritual at the same time - whether in the prevalent Christian faith, in the innumerable and complicated forms of voodoo - or in combinations of both. Similar to the Mexican tradition "Dia de los muertos", Christian faith mingles with rites and myths of an ancient culture. Over three days, you can visit the installation in the Mbassy premises and be part of this interactive project.
