POWER.MEANS.MONEY / 8th. Trienal of Photography
Under the motto of the Photo-Triennale "Currency", the colonial coins from East Africa will be set in motion at the MHG through a - photographically captured - dance intervention. Together with the dancer Eva Lomby will the expressive power of the body be included as a source of inspiration in Schwagga's creative process. The result is a collage of photographs and exhibits from the MHG and also from the Museum am Rothenbaum, Kulturen und Künste der Welt (MARKK).

The photographer illuminates various aspects from different perspectives: historical, (post-) colonial, cultural, social, aesthetic, technical. At the same time, Schwagga takes up the view of the formerly colonized. What meaning and function did these coins have - for whom? What were the economic, social and cultural effects of the introduction of colonial currency in the former colony of German East Africa?

Through the artistic installation, a change of perspective and meaning is to be made possible in several respects, which throws a different light on history!
